I was on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg and then my doctor increased my dosage to 300 mg. I had 1/2 a bottle of the 150 mg left so I doubled the Wellbutrin XL. When the pharmacy filled the new 300 mg RX they filled it generically and gave me Budeprion 300 mg. There is a HUGE difference. I have a horrible taste in my mouth that tastes like metal. I cannot get rid of it and even have used strong mouthwash and brushed my teeth 10x per day. It won't go away. Has anyone ever had this happen?
To froglady: I've been searching the web for weeks trying to figure out why I've simply been waking up "smelly" for about a month now.....I feel like it's my head or my hair...I change my pillow/pillow case, sheets, I shower right before bed, etc.... but every morning when I wake up I have this awful musty smell about me. I began taking Wellbutrin approx. a month ago. This has got to be the culprit. Thank you!!! : )
Just read your posting and I have the same thing..really strong smelling urine that started when I began taking Wellbutrin. Is is still the same for you? Have you talked to the doctor about it? I'm going to the doctor in several weeks and will be asking him about this.

Yup, I have experienced the same smelly side-effect. I don't know why we are not advised about this. It scared me. I also feel that the generic of this product just does not do anything to help my condition. But the name brand Welbutrin does. I am told that it shouldn't make a differance but I've heard others say similar things about generic, including a woman pharmacist who says it doesn't work for her either. It is expensive to get Welbutrin but may be worth it. I never thought about it being excreted via perspiration. Yikes! Good luck to us all
