i had no side effect with mirena but after reading these comments i am afraid what is going to happen when i remove it. last month i had high blood pressure ..i dont know if it is because of the mirena ...even i have migraine every month but again i doubt if it is a side effect! all i can tell you is that the copper coil is not safe as much as the mirena...this is what i was told...just my opinion.good luck
I had the mirena inserted, replacing the copper iud last year March 2008. Big mistake...i noticed a tremendous decline in my attitude, anxiety, depression increased dramatically over the months. I am getting my mirena removed tomorrow morning and reinserted with a regular copper IUD. I never had problems with it. It never affected me emotionally or physically like the mirena. Although the only thing is, the periods are a bit longer like 5 to 7 days in the beginning months, but they subside as the months go about. I will miss the little if that, periods that the mirena was able to provide...but that was just about the only positive thing I can say about it. I liked the copper iud...cramping may be a bit severe for the first 3 to 6months, but they subside. I'd rather feel normal than to be in PMSing every day instead of just once a week per month. I can provide more information if anyone would like to ask. I have experienced both IUDs....and I found my preference.
This registry is a place to share positive or negative side effects of using Mirena. If you directly experienced a side effect while using Mirena, then we encourage you to enter it here. Please note that entries here are the experiences of individual users, and in no way means that you or anyone else will experience the same side effect, since the same medication affects people in different ways.
