Hello to all posters with your terrible Advair symptoms. I have a post from over a month ago, but I'm happy to repost and add to it now so that you can read it and hopefully it will help you.
I was on Advair for 3 months - both the 250mcg andd 500mcg doses. I was on 500mcg for at least a month of this time. I had the following daily symptoms: throat constrictions/feeling of swelling, loss of voice, difficulty breathing/panic attack-like reaction, and heart palpitations followed by my heart skipping beats. I went to ENT and asthma docs every week for 3 months in tears, and no one could figure out what was wrong. If I did not have the flexibility of working from home I would have been on disability, it was that bad. Again, I went to the PRESCRIBING doctor every week, and apparently he does not know the side effects of Advair well enough to spot them in me.
After doing much research on sites like this one, I insisted on being taken off of this drug. Due to my high dosages of the drug I was put on Flovent (a component of Advair) to ween myself off of the steroids. I am now off of Advair for 4 weeks. The first 3 weeks were tough - continued with some throat constrictions and panic attack/breathing issues. This past week I feel like a new person! I weened myself off of the flovent probably sooner than I should have, but after this experrience I wanted off of all drugs ASAP.
2 weeks into my no-Advair time I felt like my symptoms would never leave me. I am here to say that you can be healthy again. Trust that your symptoms are not in your head or due to some random new illness that you magically contracted. Safely (under dr's supervision) be taken off of Advair and onto another drug to ween yourself, and your symptoms will disappear. I promise!
