One of the many side effects my daughter experienced on Singulair was also food-related. She was on it for over 3 years, and at some point (can't remember when) she started desperately begging for candy - especially chocolate (caffeine) - almost every late afternoon/evening. Thinking about it now, it did seem similar to hypoglycemia, but I knew it wasn't really that since it was often soon after dinner.
My son was on this drug for 9 years and he is 11 now. Yes, he would be in the worst mood and cranky and after I would give him a little snack, his whole mood would change. Oh, the things we have been through over the years are unbelievable--w/ the mood swings, temper tantrums beyond his years and most recently the suicidal thoughts and yes now he is on an antidepressant. He has been off singulair since 3/21/08. I could go on and on!!
