BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD! I took this drug today and thought i was goi...

Now Im nervous, this is my third round on avelox. And am having serious shakes, racing pulse, nervousness, dizziness etc...
First round at the end of Jan then Feb 25 now on day 2 of avelox only-- and I am so concerned!
It is for recurring sinusitis and ear infections. I also was prescribed nasonex.
Perhaps my nervousness about all this is simply a side effect. who knows??!!

I have never done one of thing postings, but feel compelled after my event. OMG where do I start. I was hoping to keep this short but there are too many details. Most of these posting have some element of my ride on the "Avelox terror train". But wait....lets add something else to the mix. Tramadol (Ultram). I will set up the scenario, so that anyone else taking similar meds can make a better comparison.

I am 61, have fibromyalgia, 3 bulging discs in my L1-L5suffered from depression and started having panic attacks when I was 20. Most of my symtoms from all that have been infrequent. I take estrogen, diovan, protonix, vytorin, boniva, and just added Prozac to my list after the horrible events of last week. Sensitive to meds and alcohol.

No symtoms except stuffy nose, then right side of face felt like a MACK truck hit me, one tooth hurt really bad. Tues, go to dentist, no abscess. Wed go to get epidural shots in spine for discs. Denied, as had slight fever and suspected sinus infection. Pain doc gives me Tramadol to help with pain til I get over infection. RX says 1-2 pills 3x a day. Same day, go to priimary care doc. she gives me avelox. Go home, anxious to get started to stop the pain. Can't take Advil, due to stomache issues. I AM A HANDFULL. About 7:30 pm take avelox and 1/2 tramadol. 2 hours later, after seeming to tolerate, take another 1/2 tramadol. Thursday
1:30 a.m. take a whole tramadol. Within an hour I am itching, heart racing. 5:30 a.m when I move an inch, VERTIGO and nausea and vomiting, like I just got off a spinning ride. EXtreme muscle weakness and pain; muscles feel like lead and pain. If I try to pick up a glass my arms shake like I did an extreme workout. Feel like an elephant is on my chest, pain between shoulder blades, feels like I cant move air hence panic attack. Am glued to the sofa, can't move because of the vertigo. Call husband home, sees I am white as a ghost, voice is shaking, take me to urgent care. Go there, transport me by ambulance (thats gonna cost me) to Hospital. Am in a stupor the whole time. They gave me fluids, nausea med in IV, did a CAT scan to confirm sinus infection, rule other problem. Faded in and out for the 5 hours I was there. Friday no meds, still having panic attacks and muscle spasms. Saturday, thinking the only problem was tramadol, I start up the Avelox again. All the symtoms the same except for vertigo and nausea. Those are gone. Take Avelox, Sunday & skip it on Monday and feel tired but a little better. Decide on Tuesday to try it one more time. Sure enough, within 2 hours of taking, symtoms return. Extreme muscle weakness and heaviness, racing heart like it beating out of my chest, panic attack and by the time I got home from work, complete exhaustion. Wed NO MORE PILLS. I have taken 5 of the 10 prescribed. Go back to doctor on Thurs. Now on Bactrim DS. Splitting the tabs and only taking 1/2 at a time. Still having some muscle spasms in shoulders and uper back which cause weakness and pain in my arms and very tired. Within 2 hours of taking Bactrrim, I slept 2 hours in the afternoon, something I never do. Woke this morning to heart pounding as if it were inside my mattress. Am beginning to get stomach cramping, bloating and gas from med. Not sure if some of this is left over from the Avelox. Only time will tell. In meantime, I have to get rid of this sinus infection so I guess I will "gut" it out for the 10 days. You ALL know what I have been through.
