I took avelox for bronchitis, the bronchitis cleared up - however the first day I took the medication I was told I had an irregular heart rate. I was scheduled to have out patient surgery, this was discovered in a pre op appointment. I have never had any heart rate problems prior to this. Two months before I had a physical and an EKG that showed a normal sinus rythmn. As I was being hooked up with an EKG for my out patient surgery, the nurse saw me go in to A Fib. The anesthesologist came in and told me - no surgery today, you're going to be admitted. I took the last dose of Avelox the night before. I spent 6 days in the hospital and I am now in A Flutter controlled with meds. I don't know if this was a result of the Avelox, what I do know is that never in my 59 years has anyone mentioned irregular heart rate to me. I have physicals every year. I think there are probably many people out there that have experienced this kind of reaction. Since May2, 2008 I have been dealing with this and will probably need a Cardioversion to get my heart rate in normal sinus rythmn. Right now we are waiting for the blood thinners to be within a certain range. I also felt like I was on a bad drunk after taking the Avelox, so I would take my dose and go to bed. Just thought I would post what happened to me.
