Hello folks - thought I would post here as well.........I am on 20MG of LISINOPRIL 1 time daily. I notice during regimented times of the day I get the side effects. I take it when I wake up in the morning. I have been on this for about a year now...........it has lowered by HBP from 150's/80's to about 130/80..............regular........I am a 37 year old Male Problem is the multiple side affects: 1. Tiredness - comes and goes all throughout the day - almost like I could just close my eyes and go to sleep anywhere.........feels like someone threw sand in my eyes....... 2. Shortness of breath 3. Sore Muscles - everywhere - it doesn't discriminate!!!! 4. Pain in the chest mostly the left side but sometimes the right 5. Headache in one spot in the head - doesn't last long 6. Wake up often in the middle of the night with dead hands or legs 7. Sometimes I just have a total memory blank on things I should know right away - usually only occurs when I'm getting tired. 8 Of course the panic from thinking something is wrong with me!!! Anyone else with these set of symptoms???? Drop me a note!!!!

Hello, I am a 39 yr. old male and took lisinopril a 10 count with a diuretic of 12.5. I only took it for 2 months and from the first pill i had a severe reaction i guess because this began in Nov. of 07, and i am still getting over the side effects!!

I stopped taking it 3 months ago or so and i still am dizzy and can do very little before i get winded yet it has got better slowly but i am sick of this. I have done the doctor thing like alot of others have due to the fact that i have felt like i was dying and all the blood tests came back fine.

If you stop taking this drug which of course is up to you. It may seem to get worse as far as side effects but it will chill out eventually some faster than others. People that have taken it for a long period of time and seem to be able to get by don't really experience much until the doc. changes the dose up or down you can read others and see consistency with this theory. I have read all 32 pages while i was an invalid and for any info because the doctor told me it was not the medication but whatever i have my opinion. Since i have been off of it my blood press. has been around 115 over 73. It actually came down once i got off, maybe not for everyone but that is what i experienced.

Do you have any burning effects in your upper digestive area, any constipation??

I hope any of this helps and consider another form of med. if of course you choose to. Lisinopril does have venom from a Brazilian Snake, not to freak you out but you can google it or conti. to read other testimonies here. That is how i found out about it.

Best to you, Tom

Im a 43 year old male just started taking this medication a week ago and I conccur with your ailments. I just feel like crap, much worse than before I was prescribed the 10mg of lisinopril. My chest feltl like it was going to explode like in the movie Alien. Today has been the best I've felt so far. I have a Dr appointment this Thursday and plan on discussing alternative methods of treatment.

Good Luck - I hope all goes well..........if you did just start taking it you may want to give it a chance.........if the side affects get progressively worse though..........then definatley time to discuss with your MD.

I am a 56 year old male and have been taking lisinopril for 11 years. At present I am taking 20mg lisinopril and 25mg HCTC in one pill. Over the years I have experienced most all of these side effects in one form or other. Other than the dry cough which I have had many times, although not constantly, the other effects such as,shortness of breath, pounding heart, numb hands, headaches and the others listed I have never associated with lisinopril. Those symptoms I just chalked up to age or the atrial fibrillation that I have from time to time. Lisinopril has controlled my BP in the 128/80 range on average and since I have a slow heart rate there are not many options for me that I'm aware of HBP control. I may try not taking it for a few days and see what happens side effects wise.
My Doctor has never mentioned any side effects other than the dry cough. I am surprised he didn't at least look at the possibility of the other symptoms I have presented with being related to the lisinopril.
Does anyone know what other alternatives I might have for HBP control should I feel the need to stop taking lisinopril/HCTC? Of course, I will be discussing this with my MD.
Any information or suggestions are appreciated.

Hi,
I am a 38 year old male who has been on Lisin. 40mg and HCZT 12.5 for about a year now. Thank you so much for your post. I too thought I was dying or have some sort of cancer until I read all of these posts, especially yours. My side effects are exactly as you listed. It all stared with numb hands and fingers when I wake up. Now its in my toes. My doc. just told me due to how I slept. Recently I have been dealing with horrible gaseous stomach, sometimes with diarhea sometimes not. Lasts about 5 days then goes away. Also have acid reflux and take meds for that. Seems like the Lisin. is aggravating it as well. Sitting here this day after Christmas waiting to go see another doctor to get me off this crap. I sell pharma for a living. Let me tell all, medication saves lives, its invaluable to help us lead better lives, BUT everyones body is different and not all meds. react the same. Be thankful that there are alternatives that may work for you. Also, you know your body better than anyone. Dont be afraid to question your doctor.

hello. i was just curious to see if you are doing better. I was searching for problems with lisinopril and came across your post. i have almost every symptom that you described. I have stopped taking the lisinopril now just for 1 day so far and was wondering if you did stop taking it, how long before the symptoms left you? Thank you for any and all replies.

Hi - actually - I am off this now...........Been feeling fantastic!!

The symptoms went away in about a week or two.......gradually got better........coming off them I would get a shocking pain in my leg right at the knee joint.........doctor said that he's never heard of that one but mentioned that those with high metabolisms (burn calories quickly) generally have more symptoms.......I guess I gotta watch what I take!!

Glad to be off Lisinopril!!!! My BP's in the 130's over 80's now so it wasn't doing a whole lot!! Good luck Susan - tell me how it goes!!

Off the lisinopril and feel much better. Still need to be on another drug but the side effects are not what I was having with Lisin. Still have some numbness in hands in the am but doesnt seem as bad. One thing that has been most apparent is the I am no longer tired and groggy. My head is much clearer and not having panic attacks. One word of advice to all if I may, never just discontinue your meds without medical supervision. Hypertension is a serious life threatening illness and should not be taken lightly. If your current doctor is not listening to you, find a new one. You know your body best.

I have been on this medicine for about a month. Lisinopril 10 mg. At first I was on 10 mg/12.5 with the diuretic, my hands and feet would cramp up so bad that my muscles would stiffen and I was stuck like that for about 15 mins 2x a day!!!! Now I take 10mg and now my feet stiffens and not my hands. Also I am having SEVERE constipation. I plan to go to the ER later today if I have not had a Bowel Movement. I have never been like this in my LIFE! I have an appt to see my doctor in 2 more days, I WILL NOT be taking this medicine again!
