I'm an 18 year old male and I've been taking Singulair for years; I don't even remember when I started taking it. I've had chronic sinusitis my whole life, and use a Singulair 10mg/ Allegra 180mg combo to control it. I never gave it a second thought. From my adolescent years on, I've been able to sleep (if undisturbed) for 15, 16+ hours a night, and have always felt like I was in a fog during everyday life. Getting out of bed has always been a terrible problem for me. Throughout high school, I became progressively more depressed and apathetic toward school work, to the point where I dropped a number of classes my junior year. Got put on Prozac for a while, it helped a great deal with the depression, and seemed to give me enough energy to get through the week. I discontinued it after a year or so, everything was going okay (aside from mood swings and tiredness- explained away as symptoms of my age/hormones/going to bed too late), and then I went to college. I had a mild depression that I think most people get upon leaving home for the first time, but the real problem was anxiety; I had a number of anxiety attacks, and decided to transfer to a school closer to home. I started Celexa and therapy- the celexa seems to take the edge off, but I fear its making me even more tired than before. I've just heard about the whole Singulair controversy, and I am not taking it from here on out. I really hope that this whole ordeal was brought on primarily by the Singulair. After a month or two, I'll repost to report whether the symptoms went away.

I hope your symptoms disappear. Unfortunately, because of taking Singular for so long I am afraid that the anxiety will not. My daughter took Singular for 3 1/2 yrs and was a happy go lucky child until Singular. Not knowing that Singular was the cause of her problems we continued her on the medication. When I started suspecting it could be the problem the doctors said no it can't be from the drug. Long story short, because of Singular I believe that my daughter got what I believe was drug induced anxiety. Because she was medicated for so long the anxiety became innate in her. Since being off of Singular the nightmares and hallucinations have gone away, her appetite is completely back, and the tantrums have finally gone away. The only symptom that is still around is the anxiety which I believe is psychological so is harder to get rid of especially if it was drug induced. Basically her brain learned it during a time that was such an impressionable time for kids in learning their social skills. My suggestion would be to stop Singular all together and then ween yourself off of all the other drugs and see how you feel once everything is out of your system. You may have never needed any of the psychological drugs. As for allergies my daughter has Staph aereola (the MSR) type and had surgery and is now on Allegra. She has been sinusitus free for over a year without any side effects from the medicine. My only gripe with Merck is that they should have revealed all the side effects and let the consumer decide whether the benefits outweighed the side effects. This will hopefully haunt them one day. Again, good luck and hope everything works out for you.
