Yes, i hear voices too and its normal. your son is a sensitive being like me and he can hear other souls or i like to see them as pieces of consciousness floating around and whispering things into our ears. i have come a long way in mastering my mind and consciousess but still find i get very angry for no reason all the time and i suggest you take your son off the medication and try strong natural herbs. i find they work alot better for me, especially something called DMAE wich actually aparantley works better than addorall and it doesnt completley destroy my body and mind. im addicted to addoral now and i wish i never took it.

... Ok so your son could like this dude be just hearing the thoughts of others but most likely your son is experiencing the withdrawal symptoms. These tend to make children irritable and occasionally hear voices. To make sure of this I would need to know what time he takes adderall and when he starts to experience these things. For the voices what you need to do is just simply tell him that everything is fine, that the voices are in his mind and that's where they're going to stay. If this thing with the voices becomes an absolute phobia then I would suggest therapeutic counseling. DON'T PRESCRIBE HIM TO ANY MEDICATION TO COUNTERACT THE IRRITABILITY. You don't want to go down that road. If you try to counteract the irritability the doctor may recomend hard psychiatric drugs that could cause irreversable side affects such as twitching constantly. As he becomes more tolerant of the drug the irritability will decrease.

Administration of stimulants may exacerbate symptoms of behavior disturbance and thought disorder in patients with pre-existing psychotic disorder.Treatment emergent psychotic or manic symptoms, e.g., hallucinations, delusional thinking, or mania in children and adolescents without prior history of psychotic illness or mania can be caused by stimulants at usual doses. If such symptoms occur, consideration should be given to a possible causal role of the stimulant, and discontinuation of treatment may be appropriate.

Children and Teenagers

new psychotic symptoms (such as hearing voices, believing things that are not true, are suspicious) or new manic symptoms
Tell your doctor about any mental problems you or your child have, or about a family history of suicide, bipolar illness, or depression.

Call your doctor right away if you or your child have any new or worsening mental symptoms or problems while taking ADDERALL XR®, especially seeing or hearing things that are not real, believing things that are not real, or are suspicious.

My son has been taking adderall xr 30mg for 5 years now. I have seen no side affects during this time except for a little weight loss. He is now a 9 year old boy who weighs 80 pounds. I give him the medicine in order to control him during school time and to help him concentrate learn. He is very behind and immature for his age. Just recently we found out that he has extremely high blood pressure from the medicine and he is now also taking a blood pressure medicine to alleviate this. I have seen no aggression or voices being heard from my son. I also see that there are verry little posting of positive on these web sites. Does anyone have a positive experience with this??
