Well I'm quite interested in this drug and I do prescribe it to my patients however I am surprised at the magnitude of side effects listed here. I am based here in south-east Asia and I do prescribe Yasmin to my patients and I rarely here of these side effects. Hi, I'm glad to see you on hear and interested in this subject. I took yasmin and had a horrible experience with anxiety/panic/depression. The worst time of my life. Now, I don't want to blame yasmin for every problem in my life. I am a worrier. But, I've NEVER experienced anxiety and the obsessive thinking, ever in my life at this leve,l until I took this pill. I think if you are prone to it, this pill can push you over the edge. One thing you have to keep in mind is, when you get this, for many women, the last thing they think about is their bc pill. So, they'll go to a specialist; a psychologist if it's mental torment, heart doctor if they are having palpitations, eye and brain doctors if they are experiencing dizziness, and so on. They aren't going back to the gyno because they don't know where this is coming from. Also, many of those who do report it to the gyno or general practitioner, get " oh, that's impossible." Then, I've also witnessed, at least a lot here in the states, a lack of communication between the doctors. So when a woman is seeing all these doctors with all of these different random side effects, the doctor can only really help them out with that one symptom, never finding the root of the problem, or realizing they are connected. So many GPs and gynos here don't take it that seriously, but if you speak to an endocrinologist, especially one that specializes in women's hormones, they will tell you how damaging these fake hormones can be.
I know you are a doctor, and I commend you on pursuing that profession. That's awesome. But if you get a patient who is complaining about these things, don't brush them off. It can be so discouraging for the patient and you end feeling hopeless. Communicate and down shut down the possibilities of where these symptoms are coming from
Good day.
