Is there anyone out there who has a child with side effects after being off this drug for several months? Our 9 year old boy had such horrible side effects and now even off seems to still not be able to control his emotions. He gets angry so easily and has problems in school with friends and staying focused. He cries a lot still and has lost all his confidence in any decision making. He was never like this before taking this drug. It appears that it is taking him longer to get it out of his system or he has permanent damage. We are so concerned. All doctors tell us it takes 2 to 4 weeks to remove this drug from your body. Our son was only one this for 5 weeks and was very sick.

My son has been off for 5 weeks (not months...sorry). Although he is much better (no more suicidal ideation), he is still having emotional meltdowns and crying. Hopefully our children have not sustained permanent damage. Some people have posted that it could take 6 months to a year....Only time will tell.

I have noticed the same thing with my son. Since being off the medication there has been a great improvement with a lot of the symptoms, but some are still there just not as bad now. I believe that with time hopefully he will return to the boy he was prior to Singulair. I guess we will have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. Best of luck to you and your child.
