I had Mirena for 3.5 years and I also suffered from exhaustion, mood swings and bloating. When I got it removed with the hope of getting pregnant, nothing has happened for 6months now although my periods have become regular. My tummy still looks bloated and I fear that maybe the IUD damaged my uterus or something because I feel the pregnancy symptoms every month only to be disappointed with a period a few days later. Is anyone having the same trouble, not being able to conceive? I'd love to hear from you coz my OBGYN said once my period started, all should be normal.

IMO I suggest getting the book Taking Cahrge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. http://www.ovusoft.com/ is there website. It tells you haw to chart your cycles and it briefly got into (I am only in Chapter 3) about how to tell if you get pregnant by temps and then if you miscarry. It might give you enough insight to see whether or not your bady is making enough progesterone. Private Message me if you would to ask any question about the book or anything. I will be happy to answer.

I have had mine out since January and have also been trying to conceive. I have not gotten pregnant and am really having a hard time emotionally trying to deal with it. I also feel these problems have been caused by mirena. It is a horrible feeling every month...which I know you also feel. When I had mine removed my obgyn (a different one than who put it in) explained to me that mirena releases progesterone and your body becomes used to the mirena doing all the work, so it stops producing it. And low progesterone levels are a leading cause of miscarriage. I don't know how long it takes until your body starts producing its own progesterone again though. None of these things were mentioned to me by my original obgyn, which makes me feel even worse. A long while back I remember reading a post on here about how a woman who had miscarried with her first pregnancy after the mirena removal, so with the second pregnancy she was put on progesterone supplements in order to stay pregnant. If you look at the "official" mirena website it claims that after removal you can get pregnant as soon as it is removed as if you were not ever on birth control. Obviously that is not how it works! I am so glad you posted on here because I have honestly felt I was all alone in this. My husband and I desperately want a baby!
