Hi ladies, I have had Mirena out for a week. I feel better. "Nyrek" posted yesterday about Bayer and the information on their website. here is the web address: ****** Scroll down and look for Mirena. Hit the first PDF for Product Monograph. She is absolutely right! Quite upsetting to know that within 2 YEARS I may be able to get pregnant! I don't have that much time to spare. My little girl will be turning 5 at the end of May. It is now or never. I hope that I was able to get rid of much of the hormone from my body. I have been feeling way better. No crazy fatigue. Nothing. Some nausea (my period) and some joint pain but I had those before Mirena. Not as severe now. i have Fibromyalgia. Hopefully that goes away too. There is a huge difference now compared to before. My body has been adjusting and coming back to its normal state. It is amazing! I am really ticked to have read that the hormone enters the bloodstream in 15 min. I thought it was a localized thing. It explains the extreme bloating and weight gain those weeks after insertion. Plus acne. Then I lost weight once the anxiety and depression set in. No wonder we are all messed up! Not cool at all! If you all need my account for that class action suit, let me know. They make this thing out to be so wonderful when all it does is make you a walking wreck. Absolutely scary. It does work against pregnancy but at what cost? One side effect that always got me was that I felt these spasms in my uterus, much like the ones I got when I was near the end of my pregnancy. It was crazy! At times I thought the thing had failed and I was truly pregnant. Anyone else had these weird spasms or cramping up? I still urinate a lot. Still feel some pressure down there but not like before. I still think it is my period as I'm at the end of the cycle. I have this bad feeling that although they say the hormones leave at half life, each woman reacts differently. While I felt relief on Day 1 of removal, others have taken longer. Just how long does it truly take? Especially when it has wreaked so much havoc in our bodies? I hope it does not affect my ability to conceive. That is definitely not nice! Well, if anyone could let me know about the weird spasms, i would appreciate it! If any of you have had a baby after Mirena, how long did it take you to conceive??? As always, Good Luck, Ladies!

i too had horrific cramps and spasms for the last 4 months. i finally had the mirena removed 3 days ago. it was in the wrong place and my whole abdomen had a rampaging infection. i am now on 2 lots of antibiotics to get rid of this. at its worst i was getting up in the middle of the night to take painkillers and i had a fever and aches all over and was alternating between hot and cold all the time. since its come out 3 days ago i still have pain but it is a lot better. it may be due to the fact i have now started bleeding. my stomach is a lot flatter and i have lost 4 pounds. i dont have any headaches and my acne is already clearing up. i feel a lot of relief. i too was worried i was the only one with the cramps and spasms but i can see this is a big problem. good luck!!!

Thank you for your insights into the Mirena IUD. I have had it for 15 months and have recently begun to experience lower back pain and cramping. I have also felt EXHAUSTED... one of the reasons I had the IUD put in was because of heavy bleeding which was causing me to be anemic - now I seem to have traded that for other problems.

Has anyone had a delay in experiencing these types of problems? The first year it did not seem as extreme (although it was present on and off).

Thanks!

Kathy

I am 33 years old with a husband and a 7 year old son. I recently got the Mirena implant 3 weeks ago, and have the same symptoms as everyone here has. I cant believe how similar. I have nothin good to say about the Mirena, and I am lookin to get it removed, knowin the DR. is goin to be mad because he made sure that I wanted this done for long term and not get it then have it removed cause I wanted to have a baby now. I live in Indiana, thanks everyone.

YES, I HAD THEM TOO...I DID NOT THINK THEY WERE A SYMPTOM OR ANYTHING....NEVER CROSSED MY MIND...IT FEELS LIKE YOUR PREGNANT AND I WOULD WASTE MONEY BUYING PREGNANCY TEST AND IT COME OUT NEGATIVE..WE KNOW WHAT THOSE SPASMS ARE LIKE WHEN YOUR PREGNANT; WE HAD BABIES BEFORE AND THATS WHAT THOSE SPASMS FEEL LIKE WHEN YOUR PREGNANT...NEVER THOUGHT THE IUD WAS THE PROBLEM...I KEPT TELLING MY HUSBAND THERE WAS A LOT OF MOVEMENT IN THERE ( SPASMS) AND I WOULD FEEL LOTS OF PRESSURE.. FREAKED ME OUT SILLY....SO GLAD YOU SHARED YOUR EXPERIENCE, NOW I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO FELT THOSE SPASMS AND HAVE PRESSURE DOWN THERE...I MEAN MY BODY MUST BE CONFUSED AND OUT OF WACK...I STILL HAVE IT IN AND JUST FEEL WEIRD AND HAVE BACK PROBLEMS, THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE EPORDORAL(HOWEVER YOU SPELL THAT). THANKS SO MUCH...I WOULD LOVE NOTHING BETTER TO REMOVE THIS, BUT MY HUSBAND SAYS IS IT WORTH ANOTHER BABY!!! SO , IT SUCKS TO BE A WOMEN

I had mine for 3 weeks and hated it.
Low back pain ,leg pain . I was tired all the time. I had the copper for 9 years and it was perfect, just the periods were long (6 days)without cramps. With the mirena I had bad camps during my period ,that I had to take advil and seat down. The doctor took it out yesterday and I feel diferent already...
Will geat the copper IUD again .
