I recently began taking Levaquin for an infection I received after donating a kidney to my sister last year. I too was never warned by my doctor about the potential side effects. I had no idea that this drug could cause tendon and muscle damage if rigorous exercise is performed. I am currently training for a marathon and told my doctor this but was never warned about the risk. One day after taking the drug I was out running and began having extreme tendon pain. The pain was located just below my calf and has persisted for the last 2 weeks. Just having recently moved to the US from Canada I am shocked at the lack of information the US doctors give to their patients. I had informed the doctor about my exercise schedule but no mention was made about the possible effects this drug could have on me.
