Am I the only one who has gained a lot of weight while on Lisinopril? I have gained over 40lbs in 3 years. I have also experienced odd muscle cramping and have never made a connection to this and Lisinopril. The pain in my ear, side of my head, and my jaw was unbelievable. ENT dr thought it was TMJ or nerve damage. He was not able to really pin down the exact cause. One month later I was bed ridden with severe back pain, which I have never had before. MRI showed nothing. Headaches are daily, cough, leg cramps, chest pain, decreased sex drive, and definitely have feelings of depression. I have never made the connection between the changes in my personality, health, and lifestyle to this medicine; but now I have. I will be immediately contacting my doctor to discuss alternatives. My BP when I started was 150/90 and now is 112/70. Please let me know if anyone has also had the weight gain like I have experienced. I know I am going to have to have hard facts to show to my doctor. Thank you.

My weight gain over 2 years was 20lbs and a lot of that went on my stomach and hips. I had bad neck pain which is still there after a year off this medicine. I was given an unnecessary endoscope for indigestion which has now gone as has the constipation. Other side effects were loss of taste, hair- thinning which I refused to believe was through age,and fatigue. All this for my 140/90 BP. I now monitor at home and see it goes down often,,,,, I think I had 'white coat syndrome'. I am glad you are off this medicine and wishyou well.

I also had weight gain while taking lisinopril. I had major bloating, constipation and all over swelling effect. I felt very swollen and bloated. My BP was great but the rest of me felt awful. Doc thinks I am crazy because..it couldn't be Lisinopril! I told them I refused to take it anymore. I am starting to become paranoid about taking anything. I have also had jaw pain like TMJ too.

I gained about 15 pounds over 3 years. I have joint pain, hair loss, numb hands, cough,no sex drive and a severe pounding heart. I tried to go off of it- that lasted 2 days-----I thought i was going to die------I had to start taking it again. I am searching for an alternative Dr because I want this stuff out of my system.

I started taking it in December and I have been having weight gain which I attributed to quitting smoking but it didn't get bad till I started that med. Also have had hair loss, fatigue, sore joints but the biggest reason I started checking into it was because my calves have been cramping when I walk and feel very weak and tired. Now they think I have PAD. I have had it checked and my Vascular Dr. says no and my Neurologists says yes. That's Drs for ya. I can be reached at tazimad2@yahoo.com if you want to talk, Tazi

wow .....i take lisinopril and have been for about 7-8 years. Didnt know that this was causing so much havoc in peoples lives, including mine. I have had some weight gain in the past and hair loss is a little problem for me but I thought it was from stress! I have recently been diagnosed with TMJ problems from my ENT! I due suffer from ear problems and sore joints! I will be looking into this more thoroughly with my doctor! I'll probably have to try some herbal substitute for lowering my blood pressure from now on!
