I am posting this as a new post. I am not against Singulair. I am against withholding negative side effects from the patients. I am against promoting that Singulair is safe and effective for everybody on the planet. My entire family is health care. My father was a surgeon. I worked for a pharmaceutical company. Pharmaceutical companies are supposed to ethically invent drugs and inform everybody about the safe and effective way to use those drugs. Pharmacists are supposed to police the prescriptions and dispense the correct dosage. Then pharmacists are supposed to be aware of side effects and drugs interactions. When necessary, pharmacist are supposed to intervene to prevent a mis- communication from turning into a disaster. Doctors are supposed to review the recommendations of pharmaceutical companies (who are policed by the FDA) in order to determine if their diagnosis matches the profile of drugs known to be therapies for certain symptoms. I, personally, am madder than hell at Merck. Singulair could really be a good therapy when it is needed. It could correct some bad stuff that happens short term. Why does Merck's need to make every drug a major block buster money maker ruin the market for Singulair?

i to am not against singulair, for those who have no side effects,i to am for full discloser,Had these side effects come to my attention in a timely manner when they were added,i would not be so mad.How ever with the laws being re written our recourse is limited,we basically have to prove what was done here was by design,no doubt in my mind but very hard to prove. What the doctors and hospitals need to realise is the drug companys have left them holding the bag,if the doctors recieved the updates through a Dear Doctor letter,a year ago when they were added, then under the law they are somwhat accountable. What i want is the medical community to be as mad as me, and help change this, when your pharmacist is filling scripts for both singulair and anti depressants for a child or adult red flags should be flying. When your allergist is sending your child to a sleep clinic or psych doc bells should be ringing. This is the computer age, when these updates came out, they could have been entered in a data base of the docs and people with these side effects should of been flagged and got in contact with. All i want is change so this stops

YeeHa to Flindy - just read your post. I said before we live in a world of instant communications and the FDA and Merck are STILL trying to figure out the best way to get the info to doctors and patients????

I sent to the FDA that exact, quite simple, solution - database, database, database. The letter could have been received by all by the end of February. Wow - what a concept.

The last I asked my Pharmacist she had not received any information from Merck - like the rest of us she heard about the new side effects on the radio. They should be sued for what they have done and continue to do (without any regard for these suffering individuals) to people who, unfortunately, trust in their products.
