Was prescribed Avelox 400 mg tablets for a sinus infections (second one in a row.) Became severely depressed, crying in public places (and I am not a crier), couldn't sleep, headache and just felt disconnected all together. By day four couldn't take it any more and called the doctor. Was prescribed Azithromycin pack to clear things up. I am glad I found this website to see that other people were having these same side effects because I was starting to think I was losing my mind.

My doctor gave me a free coupon for a prescription of Avelox 400mg one a day for 10 days. I've taken it for 6 days and today I decided that's it. I'm at my wits end. At first I was taking my one pill before I went to bed but then I couldn't sleep I tossed and turned all night. So I deceided to skip a day and take it in the morning. Now I sleep well at night but I have not felt normal (and I was) since taking this med. I too feel disconnected and I've had a headache for 3 days. I'm short tempered, and I feel like I could cry at a moments notice. This is the worst antibiotic I've ever taken.
