Well, this is obviously a very strong antibiotic. I had a raging sinus infection and was in a lot of pain. The doc prescribed this along with prednisone. I think I tolerated it quite well. I did get side effects though. I didn't have insomnia. I had just the opposite. I was soooo tired that I had to take naps every day that I was on it. I also had heart palpitations where it felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. It would take my breath away. It made me feel depressed also. I wouldn't take this again unless I really needed something strong. On the plus side, after 6 hours of taking it, I could feel my sinuses start to improve.

It is true. I normally do not take any medications. Even if I have an occasional headaches, I rarely take tylenol or advil. Then, one day, I had to take two weeks off from my work with my severe laryngotracheitis/tonsilitis. Dr. prescribed me with Avelox + Prednisone steroid pills. Of course, it didn't work for me because my doctor later told me that it was viral. DUH~ So for a week, I took this medication. Every time I take Avelox, I had to pray to God that it wouldn't give me too much heart palpitations and jittered feeling. My hands got cold and my heart was beating so fast that I could literally hear my own heart beat. Not only that I felt extremely depressed and tired. I cried for every little things and it wasn't usual me. It's been about 2 months now, but I strongly believe that Avelox was too harsh on my body. It also gave me a lot of acne problems with itch and now I look 7-10 yrs older. My friends who are in medical field tells me that Avelox is very safe, but I do not think it is safe AT ALL.
