II recently went to the doctor for a bad chest cold that lingered for 2 weeks and upon my visit I discovered that my Bp was 200. This extremely high number alarmed the attending physician and he immediately had me to take a lipsinopril/HCTZ which I was not familiar with. I had to remain in the doctor's office until the pressure dropped. It did drop thank GOD and I was given a prescription for this new drug. I am a small frame female and after three days of taking lipsinopril/HCTZ I developed a variety of the known side effects. After calling my doctor to discuss my concerns, I told him that I need to be back on my previous meds so that I could function normally. I am now on the generic name for Norvasc(amolpidine) 10mg. I have only noticed mild swelling around ankles which really does not look like swelling and I have never had appetite increase although I would like to put on a few pounds. It is apparent that meds affect each individual differently.
