I believe that I am correct on what I am going to say because I looked at what files were available on the FDA website. There were quite a few times that letters were sent to Merck regarding their advertising of Singulair. There was one letter that warned Merck not to depict people exercising in their ad - that was before they had done studies about exercise/asthma and Singulair. So I would have to conclude that NBC can run whatever ad that the FDA will allow.
I personally believe that our complaint should be about the FDA post marketing surveillance program. Then we should complain about the doctors who don't report adverse drug reactions. I don't believe that doctors should be responsible for drug reactions just as along as the patient was informed. But then that goes in a circle right back to the post marketing surveillance program. Something needs to be done. Congress is going to have to make laws that new drugs are put on the watch list for three years during which time no advertising. And doctors should be required to report anything that happens if it meets the criteria of evidence that the symptom is related by virtue of de-challenge and challenge. Many foreign countries have watch lists.
kate im with you whatever it takes to get the word out,i will write,i have written to dateline. If it had not been for that quick blurb on the news,i would still be facing this, people need to know, whatever it takes, any publicity is something, lets do it
I have also seen several ads on CBS. I just saw the one marketed for kids with the kitten and the delicious cherries. I was wondering where the knives were to represent the kids who started cutting, the guns used for the suicides, and the incredibly depressed, agressive kids. They should follow the ads with an ad for one of their ADHD drugsor maybe an anti-depressant, since that is where your child will end up! Am I bitter----OH YES!!!!!
