Well here's yet another unsatisfied customer. I am so relieved to see I'm not alone but so angry and my doctors for not doing some simple research like this on behalf of their patients, so I could've been more adequately warned about the side effects of this product on some women. Basically, if you are sensitive to hormonal changes, which I am, then this product will really mess with your body. These hormonal changes can affect, among other things, changes in the ph level of your vagina which can lead to both bacterial and fungal vaginitis. Did anyone tell you that? Have you had more of those infections while on this and think you were crazy? You weren't. Symptoms of a bacterial infection include a thin, watery discharge and a fishy smell. Did you think you smelled different while on this but figured there's no way there could be a connection to Mirena? There is. Looking back now, how could I have trusted a pamphlet from the maker of the product? Obviously they want you to buy it. That was my stupidity. But how could my doctor trust the pamphlet? Why do they assume the hormone level is too small to make an impact when there are thousands of women having them removed and citing the exact same reactions. Demand that you be taken seriously as a women and a patient. Do not be bullied nor belittled by your doctor into thinking you must be wrong and a corporate drug company is right. Get it out.

Yes! It started back at the end of December. I was a healthy 28 year old when I got this inserted in August 2006. Then turning 30, I could not believe how crappy I felt. In December 2007, I got a yeast infection and didn't know why. I am not prone to these at all. I got a prescription form teh GYN. Then like a month later, another one. Back to teh doctor's. Then they said it was vaginitis because my pH was all the way at the darkest end of the spectrum (blue) on the THIRD visit. It was awful. i felt hurt and sensitive all teh time. My love life was shambles and I still had to deal wiht all of the other many, many, and i mean MANY symptoms from what I thought was just me getting old. I finally put it together that right before my period, these infections would start. The doctor noticed it too. Never in my life did this happen!!! Then I started reading these posts while I was looking up vaginitis and yeast infections. Then my hubsnad asked to look up Mirena as well. I found this site. It is horrible to see so many women suffering and others whose marriages have been broken. I finally broke down and got it removed on May 2nd. I started to feel better instantly. The hormone was still in my body so it reacted to a period with the feeling of a yeast infection. Since then it has been ok. No issues. I am slowly regaining my life back and my health. :) We are trying to conceive as well and after that, no more babies. Two is enough! If anyone asks you about this sort of thing, tell them that yes, someone did experience it; tah vaginitis AND yeast at the same time, month after month. It does mess with your hormones, body and many other things. Not just physically. I am a living testimony of this.

I had my mirena inserted last November for controlling my heavy period. I had spoting on and off for more than two months. And after that my period completely estopped. Since then I had more discharge than I normally did. In March, I had a very severe infection, unbearable itching and irritation. I went to the doctor and given yeast infection treatment (I never had yeast infection before). I finally felt better after one week. Then one month later, I had the same problem again. I searched on line and found out I am not the only who had mirena related yeast infection. Thanks for those who posted their experience, otherwise I would never related this to Mirena. Without a second thought, I had it removed two weeks ago. I wish my doctor could have warned me this side effect. I do have one question. How long will it take to be back to norma after the removal. Because I still have minor irritation and abnormal discharge.
