Maybe your Dr is just one of the lucky ones who can tolerate this device....I personally am not! I, too, had the headache on one side of my head, heart palpitations, numbness....not to mention dizziness, acne, etc. If you didn't have these problems pre-Mirena, I'd bet that they are indeed due to the device. Please let us know how you do once it's removed. I am 3 1/2 months post removal and most of my issues are gone....but still waiting for my first period. I am 43 and my recent (post-Mirena) FSH test indicated 107 so now I am waiting to be restested (in 2 weeks) to see if it's changed any at all.
I am so greatful to all of you. I had Mirena inserted 8months ago. I bled for 6 weeks. I scheduled a removal appointment and was convinced to give it another month. The bleeding finally stopped and the back spasms started. In Januray I stated experiencing swelling in my ankles and muscle tenderness. I made an appointment today to find out what could be causing the water retention, swelling and pain. I decided to do some research and typed Mirena and swelling aches etc and it brought me to this page. I will call and schedule a romoval appointment tomorrow. I have not felt like my self in months. Aches , pains, swelling heartburn and back spasms...I have had it.Again thank you all for sharing.
