Wow! So glad and sad to find other sufferers. I wish our doctors would listen to us and take us seriously! Why are they stuck on forcing Synthroid on us? At this point, I think I'd rather not take any Synthroid. I stumbled upon this site while looking for something I might take to counteract the effects of Synthroid. I had to halve my 112 mg pills because of the side effects: frequents headaches, bloating, weight gain, irritability and anxiety, dry mucus membranes (eyes, nose, throat, etc.), allergies, muscle fatigue, achy joints. Of course, my doctor is slowly upping the dosage again, because my TSH is chronically high, but I feel like sh*t, physically and mentally. I used to feel so much more normal and like myself before I was diagnosed and "forced" to take Synthroid.

I wept a little when I read your post because I too thought that I have been suffering alone with the side effects of Synthroid. I have only been on it for 6 weeks and am seriously considering giving it up. I already had problems with self esteem and looked forward to finally being able to lose the weight that I tried for years to get rid of before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I still eat the same foods and live the same lifestyle however I have picked up 5 pounds of weight and my stomach is severely bloated. I also am experiencing depression and was wondering why. I wish doctors would be more willing to document the high numbers of patients experiencing these problems so that they could be addressed. We cant ignore the side effects but they seem to be ignoring our concerns. I am in a bad marriage and had hoped that thyroid treatment would finally free me from this situation. I am now looking for other alternatives.

I can't believe what I'm reading on here!! My old doctor put me on Suynthroid for "borderline" low thyroid. I have gained 25 pounds in two years and have developed fatty liver. Not to mention, feeling like crap all the time. I started suffering from insomnia, anxiety, palpitations and now intolerance to heat. My new doctor is slowly reducing the dose. I'm on ..025 and want OFF of it completely. I'm going to try cutting out carbs (I hear that relates to thyroid) and losing weight. I was also put on blood pressure meds (I believe to counteract the Synthroid). This drug is awful. And I don't even think now that my thyroid was low.

Tell me about it. I take .150 of Synthroid and I feel like crud. I am majorly fatigues, weak leg muscles ( walking around my kitchen I feel like I am drunk), headaches, joint pain and now burning sensation around left side of lips. I drink wine or beer and it is worse. I use to teach school and now no way can I do it. I have a three year old who knows I am not normal. "Mommy doesn't feel good" is what she says. I cannot even jump up like a cheerleader without falling or feeling dizzy and I am told "it isn't the Synthroid." BS! I never felt like this. Never!
