Hi, You can eliminate some of the prednisone’s side effects with high-quality nutritional supplements. I’m sure you know that all corticosteroids increase calcium excretion, and therefore, make sure that you multi-vitamin complex contains enough for daily needs and for Ca losses associated with long-term prednisone intake. I’d also highly recommend 2-3mg of Boron (it’ll slow increased Ca excretion). Douglas Labs has a great, and relatively inexpensive, Boron formula:

Prednisone depletes lots of important vitamins and minerals from the body, so, why not to take balanced and high-potency multi-vitamin-mineral complex? Here’re two excellent examples from the Douglas Labs:

If money is an issue, take a look at this one:

BTW, have you asked your medical/transplantation team about corticosteroids’ alternatives? If there’re no alternatives, what did they recommend to offset prednisone’s side effects?
