HI, As with many others I found singulair to be a miracle with asthma. No more rescue inhalers. I am not sure which of my current meds is causing the very vivid, often gruesome dreaming I have been having as THREE of them show this as a side effect. I am referring to Cymbalta, Xanax and Singulair. It may be that the combination of the three is just too much and is causing brain toxicity of some sort. I started cutting down the cymbalta, and also the Xanax days ago. I found myself still waking up remembering vivid dreams that I would rather forget. I remember them all like they just happened in living color and detail, days and weeks later. At first I thought it was interesting, but now I just want to FORGET THEM, anyone have ideas???? Help!!! ( I also developed depression and anxiety after being on singulair for several years which is how I ended up with the two additional meds.

Singulair has been reported, in many European countries, to cause anxiety and depression. There are many reports of nightmares and hallucinations.

It is important for you to remember that you should contact your doctor to work out a proper plan to get off of these medications. Please don't try to do this by yourself. Get in touch with your doctors.

I would recommend stopping the Singulair, with a plan in place with your doctor for alternative medication for the asthma. Many people report vivid disturbing dreams from Singulair. My son (age 7) developed a crippling anxiety disorder, which after a year off the medication has disappeared. His asthma is no longer a big problem so he only needs an inhaler from time to time when he is sick.

You may also want to make sure you have reduced any triggers, such as allergies. My sons both have a lot of food allergies, and although it is sometimes inconvenient to find food they can eat, it is a lot better than piling on the meds and suffering side effects.

Good luck! I hope you find a solution that takes care of your asthma and reduces your side effects.

You need your doc on your side to help monitor your recovery,A lot of our kids on singulair, were also on anti depressants and sleep meds, since coming off singulair needed none of it,Did you need these drugs after starting Singulair????

Yes, I never took much of anything , except levothyroxin. I was not depressed, had gone thru menopause like a breeze! I had panic attacks, became deeply depressed. I noticed the vivid dreaming after three years on singulair with all these new meds added. The asthma was just related to upper respiratory infection or allergy, not an ongoing thing at all! I was recommending singulair to everyone!! OH MY
