I have been taking Atenolol 25mg./day for 5 1/2 months for high blood pressure. I am a 63 year old female. The side effects for me are tingling in my fingers, which is especially annoying at night, and muscle pain in my legs. I did not associate either of these effects with the drug until I researched it on the internet and learned that they might be associated with atenolol. I have since reduced the dose in half and am experiencing less tingling and muscle pain

you should consult with your doctor before changing your dosage. Stopping an Atenolol containing medication or changing it in any abrupt can cause irregular heart beat and even a heart attack.

I actually reduced the dose as a result of consulting with my doctor.
I monitor my blood pressure and heart rate at home.Since reducing
the dose of Atenolol, my blood pressure has remained low/normal
and heart rate avg. about 60 bpm.
