Advair almost killed me. I am not kidding. I used to have mild asthma. A week before Christmas 2006, my Doctor put me on Advair because I had used my inhaler 3 times in November. Less than a week, I could not breath. I ended up in the emergency room on December 26th then the 28th. Everytime I went to the hospital my Doctor doubled the dose until I was the maximum dose. Seven emergency visits later and 2 specialist (Asthma and Pulmonologist) they found out that my throat was almost closed completely. They took me off the Advair and treated me for thrush. Long story short, the Advair caused me to end up with vocal cord disfunction and severe reactive airway decease at the age of 35. I was in theropy for the vocal cord disfunction, which is not curable, for 3 months and it took me 10 months to breath normally and finally off the nebilizer 4 times a day. I started once an hour with the nebilizer. I started out with 8 medicines to try to keep my lungs open and I am now down to 3 that I will have the rest of my life.
