I had the same coughing problem with lisinopril and my Dr. was great. He knew right away that the cough was from Lisinopril and put me on diovan. That has been OK for about three years but now I am having chest pain and weight gain. They did a stress test and EKG and all were normal. But I still feel like I am having a ehart attack at least once a week!!! I was just at the doctor's this morning for a regular refill checkup. Saw a different Dr. and he asked about these side effects, listened to heart and lungs, then continued on as though there was nothing to be done and I would just have to live with it. As it happens, this afternoon I am feeling the worst I ever have as far as the checst pain goes. This is rediculous.
I to have been on Lisinopril actually for 9.5 months.I started coughing within two weeks and haven't stopped since. I really tried to make it a year thinking the medicine was doing a great job on my blood pressure. The coughing just continued to get worst. On Friday June 20th my doctor put me on a different blood pressure medicine. I thought I was loosing my mind. Today is Monday and I am still coughing but hope it will be gone by the weekend. I really don't understand why doctors prescribe this medication when there are other alternatives. Sure my co pay will be a little more but I won't cough.
I'm curious to know if your coughing symptoms stopped after getting off of Lisinopril. I too had the same coughing problems and have today been put on Avapro. Any similar side effects and is your blood pressure controlled with that drug? Thanks for your reply.
