Kathy - Your doctor is an idiot. Avelox will not treat any viral infection (like the flu or an "awful cold"). It's designed to treat bacterial infections. Also, what kind of inhaler did you use? From what my Doctors (urgent care physician and personal physician) have told me - Avelox is the most powerful antibiotic they can prescribed. I was given Avelox today 6/10/08 after a 10 day battle with pneumonia/bronchitis (both lungs) an ear infection and sinus infection after 10 days of Biaxin did not kill the bacteria. Avelox is so potent it kills off both bad and "good" bacteria, which means you have to take probiotics while you're taking the Avelox to keep your stomach calm and your digestive system active. I was also told to drink plenty of water (as always) and that the Avelox would probably make me tired. I'm sorry you suffered so much with the dizziness/crabbiness/anxiety and everything else - and I hope this can be of some help in the future.
