Sorry! CHOPstands for Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Unless this info. has changed, it was ranked #2 Children's hospital in the country.
My advice would be to do your very best to avoid those things to which your child is allergic. I know this is a challenge - I have a 19 month old who is allergic to wheat, milk, eggs, corn, rice, oats, tomato and apples - and cats - and probably other things as well. I have been nursing him and so I also must avoid these foods. But let me tell you, I feel that I almost lost my 7 year old because of Singulair. He was depressed and anxious and stopped really participating in life, and this at a time when he was just discovering how he fits into the world. Now he is a social, active kid who smiles and hums and skips. For him we avoid corn and certain fruits and cats and dogs - let me tell you, forgoing these things is totally worth it. In my book, any daily medicine has the potential for serious side effects. It's one thing to take Benadryl or albuterol once in a blue moon, and risk sleepiness or jumpiness, but these long term, strange side effects can really change a child's life. And threaten that life.
Good luck, I know this is not easy.
