I looked into mirena last year and was a little worried about the side effects. The gyn really didn't push it so I let it go. Went to a new gyn this year and he was so excited about it, telling me he has inserted over 400 of them and how everyone has been so happy with it. I was told I would have a little discomfort during the insertion, but besides a little cramping I'd be finein a couple of hours. Well I had mirena inserted one week ago. It was more painful then I was led to believe. After the insertion I was told to rest a minute and left alone. Around 5mins later I proceed to check out and ended up passing out. I am a strong healthy 40yr old. Never expected this. Ended up in the E/R (they said it was a sudden drop in BP). So now besides paying $800 for the mirena I'm going to get stuck with ambulance and e/r charges! I guess I'm just lucky I didn't pass out on the drive home. On top of that I've been so irritable, moody and so fatigued. Any hope in these feelings lessening with time. I'm a little worried after reading everyones experiences. Keep you posted
