I had the Mirena inserted on June 3rd, 2008. Does anyone have any...

I've had the mirena for a month now and I've had spoting every other day. However EVERY women who gets mirena should know that yes spoting is a side effect. I got a uti shortly after insertion... Not related. and I was crampy one week AFTER it was inserted, just for a few days. My boyfriend can occassionally feel the threads. Yea those are the bad, here are the good..No weight gain yet, very light period, high sex drive, and I feel better than ever. When it was bring inserted I didn't even know it...The OBGYN said ok im done, and I had no pain, I thought she was joking. So far so good! Hope this helps.

Try not to worry. From what I have read the Mirena affects us all VERY differently, but it is important to know that there are actually a wide range of side effects that your doctor didn't go over with you. I'm not sure why that is, but that seems to be across the board. It's good that you've read the posts so that if you start experiencing some of this stuff you'll know what is happening to you and you won't feel like you're going crazy. Trust me, that part will help more than anything. I think the other thing to know is that if you do start to have side effects you don't like that you don't have to keep it. I mean, give it a chance but don't put up with stuff for too long. I will say that even knowing what I know now I would have tried it regardless just to see if I would have done well on it. I'm not doing well so, I am going to have it removed. Good luck to you.
