Hi,
I have not ever taken Mirena, however, you problem sound very similar to mine. (hormonal) About a year ago I had an ectopic pregnancy removed, once I started having my periods again it was like I was possesed. About 5-10 days before I start I get VERY irritable and moody, hot flashes, headaches, cramps, acne. Then within about 2 days of my period starting everything goes back to normal. My doctor just says, " oh well it sound like your just depressed" yea right, bite me.... i'm now seeing an endocrinologist, who is still doing blood work, but the first set of tests he did showed I had elevated testosterone, as well as a growth hormone, and low progesterone. he said it looks like PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)...i'm no DR. but I know elevated testosterone can cause acne, mood swings, among other crazy things. I think you should totally get off the Mirena and talk to your DR. about a hormone imbalance....
good luck,
kim
