i have been feeling more and more joint and muscle pain over the last year. at first, i thought it was merely getting older. however, the pain is wierd enough that i have begun looking into possible causes. just came across this site which talks about the side effects of advair. today, i took my dose, (some days i do not) and am noticing how intensified physical pain -- with significant joint stiffness, swelling of my hands and feet and ankles, and deep all over muscle aches (burning ache, weakness, tired). Anyone else feeling this becuase of long term use of advair? doctor not only recently prescribed a higher dose because of my asthma flareups, but knowing my current pain conditions did not even talk to me about the possiblity of my pain potentially being a reaction to long term advair use.

I am sorry to hear of your experiences. Unfortunately, it is repeated over and over and not heard about enough as far as I am concerned. I actually work in the inner city schools in New York City doing evaluations for special education services. I am not permitted as yet to apply the methods I know to cure asthma etc. or even to give a lecture about them. I have seen 3 children die in the schools in which I work whose lives were forfeited because the physicians involved simply did not fully understand the nature of their patients disease nor adequately understand the dangers of the medications they prescribed and how to communicate that adequately to the parents. It is simply disastrous to hear the tales of parents about how most of them and their children are treated at most clinics. This is largely driven by the way pharmaceuticals communicate to the physicians who themselves, though they often will not admit it publicly, are confused about what really causes breathing related illnesses.
Let me be clear before the next couple of sentences that I know that medications properly applied and when appropriate slowly decreased can be life saving.
However, I think that class action suits would be appropriate regarding short circuiting the overselling of medications for various applications and the lack of adequate attention to the complications they present which could be found over long enough trials. However, the pharmaceuticals are hard pressed by their investors to get the medications out to the market to make profits.
