Is heart racing one of the side effects? I have problems with edema which are worsened by Singulair and Zyrtec. Vivid Night terrors depression, anxiety are standard also made worse. Headaches extremely high blood pressure and nausea. I have been off the singulair for a month. I am Zyrtec Free as well. I too will rely on my inhalers. This drug should not ever be prescribed for children.

I was in the hospital for 3 days with a rapid heartbeat (166 bpm), and a severe upper respiratory infection. I am 41 years old and I was in the cardiology unit in the hospital (the youngest patient there!) because they could not get my heart rate to come down. They did a lot of tests and everything came back normal. Singulair did it to me. I agree, this medicine should never be given to children.

My daughter ended up in the ER with her heart racing and her blood pressure was elavated. I believe Singulair did it because I took her off it and she has not had any more heart racing. She also had bad nightmares, and bad headaches.
