Back to report for those interested in post removal stories/experiences - 3 months post removal here. The first 2 months were so much better - I was back to my normal self, running each morning, working and then having enough energy for my kids and husband. Periods were normal 5-6 days like before and 25-28 day cycles. This month period was much heavier, with many more clots. I had to change tampons every 2 hours just to be sure that overflow didn't happen. It actually caught me off guard since the previous months were so normal. Weight is slowly coming off which confirms to me that Mirena was cause since I'm not doing anything any differently exercise/food wise. Will continue to update as life goes on......

Thanks for posting this e-mail and your progress. It's much appreciated. I had Mirena for a year in which time I had many of the same symptoms listed on this site, including a 25 pound weight gain. (yuck!). I also run and go to the gym, but I am really having a hard time budging the weight. I have the IUD removed 15 weeks ago. Periods seemed to come back regularly almost immediately, which was nice. (I had no periods at all for the year I had Mirena in.) Do you find the weight is still around your tummy (like a tire) and your hips/thigh? That's where I gained it and it seems very stubborn and it's beginning to worry me! I don't want to be like this forever, especially considering I am working hard to shift it.

You are the best. This is exactly the kind of update I have been looking for. I just posted yesterday and have gotten 2 replys. Both positive yet I still wondered if they did anything different to make those changes or was it strictly the Mirena. I plan to continue posting as you have once I have mine removed. I've had it now for 3 year and had never associated any of my symptoms with Mirena until I started getting Cyst. Once I started searching it I found this post and it look like these people were talking about my life.

I am going next Friday after 5+ years of Mirena use. I have many sypmtoms that I thought were due to my Fybromyalgia diagnoses but now I wonder. I have gained 20 lbs. since 2003, have joint pain and severe lower back pain, irratibility, lack of focus and memory..... So many symptoms copy Fybromyalgia. I don't want to get my hopes up that simply removing the MIUD will fix me. I am now nervous about all the stories of post removal symptoms. Please update us on how the last month has been for you. Thanks for the feedback
