my gyno recommended i switch to yaz and after a month of taking it i developed a blood clot in my right lung and had to be hospitalized for a week in may of this year. it too was extremely painful and it couldnt have come at a worse time. my mom was in the hospital dying when i had extreme pain in my chest and went to the ER. they diagnosed me with the pulmonary embolism and i lost a precious week with my mom because i was admitted. she died the night after i was discharged. i am trying to get a class action lawsuit started. i have worked at a law office for the past 2 years and know an excellent personal injury lawyer looking to take on a case like this. I have been to many other sites and found women who have had the same problems and have posted this on many other sites. please email me at apopa@eden.rutgers.edu with your name and email address where you can be reached. A class action lawsuit requires many plaintiffs so i need a lot of women to be willing to participate. I have already gotten a few emails but this type of lawsuit requires more that that. please help me and yourself.
I'm feeling all the same thing. I feel like I'm going crazy, no sex drive, depression, mood swings, happy one minute sad the next, love my fiance but can't show him, just moved in together and feel unhappy about it, 2 weeks ago all I wanted was for us to get our own place. How long after you quit taking YAZ did you start to feel normal?
OMG I have been trying to research lawsuits against these pills too! I am 26yrs old and for over 2 years I thought I was loosing my mind, come to find out that it was all do to these pills. I started taking them and I already had a hormonal imbalance in my body but Yaz started making me anxious and depressed. It got to the point that I did not know what was wrong with me I would cry and freak out for nothing. For months I could not do anything I was not my self and it wasn't till i stopped taking them that i felt better. It took a few months for me to feel a bit normal but to this day I still have anxiety from time to time. you can contact me at amcruz25@yahoo.com
I started taking this pill in May 06. The side effects were horrible!!!!!!! From May 06 through Oct 07, I endured the pits of hell on this birth control. I gained 80 lbs on it and could not get rid of it. I started freaking out and going out of my mind. My periods disappeared, I started having extremely painful cramping but no period, I became severely depressed and lashed out at my family nonstop. My family doctor ended up supplementing the bc with Lexapro to help with the depression. The two battling inside of me caused me to become suicidal. I was very unpleasant to be around. I mean, the list can go on and on as to what this birth control did to me. The night I finally went and did a lot of asking around and finding stories just like mine... I scheduled an appt to see my GYN and went off of it. After spending a year and a half on this birth control, my life has gained some meaning. I have lost some of the weight that was gained on it and I'm somewhat normal again. However, a lot of the side effects from this birth control are still here. My periods have returned but my breasts have never stopped hurting. The emotional distress has not fully diminished. Its terrible!!!! I HATE myself for being on this pill and ruining a year and a half of my life and then enduring the lasting effects of it. One of the poorest decisions I have ever made.
I also had a horrible experience on this drug and have been searching for a class action lawsuit. After being placed on Yasmin for a short time, I completely lost my mind. At first, I thought I was going crazy, that it was in my head, but it kept getting worse. One night, I called a close friend and told her I was feeling like I wanted to go drive off a bridge and kill myself. She came over and spent the night with me, I called the ob-gyn the next morning and immediately stopped this drug. I feel this is EXTREMELY dangerous and should be taken off the market. If I can participate in any way, please email me at baby_nurse2b@yahoo.com. Thanks!
Ditto. I was put on Yaz in October 2007 and suffered multiple pulmonary embolisms as well as a right pulmonary infarction. I too was in the ICU for a week and on Coumadin and am thankful to be alive. My pulmonologist and I have done extenstive blood testing to rule out anything hereditary and it all came back negative leaving the only possible solution to be this pill. I can no longer take hormone therapy and constantly think about what could have happened had I not gone in that night. At 35, you don't expect for a doctor to tell you how lucky you are to be alive.
Please read the side - effects before taking this drug to make sure you are comfortable with the possible outcomes.
Best regards, Nebraska Cowgirl
I was on Yasmins back in 2005 and ended up in the ER with symptoms of a TIA stroke..numbness on one side of the body..flashing lights in my vision..UNFORTUNATLEY the ER lost my bloodwork and we have no way of knowing what caused it..But we do know that it was not a stroke cause it would have showed up on the imaging tests. So my Dr immediatley took me off Yaz thinking that is what caused the severe reaction. Since that day, I was left with Hypertension and an inflammed joint disorder on my left side of my chest...still dealing with those to this very day. I am not and never went back on birthcontrol of any kind...its just not worth it to me. I am a very healthy person, thin, good health, so dealing with these two disorders have made life not so pleasant at times. Sure would be nice to hold someone accountable for this!!! NO MORE YAS!!!!
i was only on this pill for about 6 months...my personality changed, i have a thyroid problem now, and i had no i mean absolutely no sex drive at all. i became depressed. my blood clotted easily. thank god i caught it in time because i could have ended up with blood clots. i was then put on asprin 81 mg. i lost hair and i lost 15 lbs. i went off of it and now i am back to my normal weight and my sex drive is back thank god.!!! i still have my thyroid problem though unfortunately.
i read back on another person posting about her and her fiance....i had the same problem with my boyfriend. i have been going out with for about 3 1/2 years and when i was on yaz i couldnt stand him but i knew i loved him. i almost changed my whole life because of yaz. when i went off of them it was about 3-4 wks i was back to my old self and had that flame back in my eye for him...i love him so much. but yaz just made me a whole different person when i was around him. makes me sick to think that i was going to give that all up.
I was a healthy, strong 47 year old female prior to taking YAZ. I was prescribed it for heavy bleeding during my periods and within 3 months from taking suffered from pulmonary emboli in both lungs. I have had genetic testing, every scan you can imagine and they have not found the source of the emboli. I now have filters in my lungs to prevent further clotting and take blood thinners. I have lost partial use of my right lung. My quality of life has been totally and completely altered.
I WAS ONLY ON YAZ FOR A MONTH. AM ONLY 33 YEARS OF AGE. WHEN I GOT ADMITTED TO THE ER BEING DIGNOSED WITH A DVT TO MY LEFT UPPER THIGH DOWN TO MY KNEE. I SPEND 3 WEEKS IN ICU. ALSO HAD 3 PULMONARY EMBOLISM TO THE RIGHT LUNG. AFTER 3 WEEKS OF MISERY AND PAIN I HAD TO HAVE A STENT PUT IN. AM NOW ON 3 BLOOD THINNERS DAILY. MY QUALITY OF MY LIFE HAS CHANGED COMPLETELY. IF ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOWS IF ANY CLASSACTION LAWSUITS PLEASE EMAIL ME AT ANGELANUZQUIZ@VERIZON.NET
I know of an attorney who is doing class action lawsuits. Let me know if I can help anyone ksage00@hotmail.com :)
OMG!!! I am so shocked to read all of these post, but relieved to know that it was just not my body that had such bad side effects from yasmin. I too took yasmin and had a pulmonary embolism and have gained about 15 lbs.. I too had all the genetic tests and nothing is abnormal. I also had a friend that has always been about 110 lbs and after taking yasmin blew up to 140 lbs. and very quickly. She stopped taking them and the weight literally melted off; she's down to about 117 now. She is a very tiny person, so that is getting close to her more normal weight. I just stopped taking them while I was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago dealing with my blood clot, but I too hope my weight gain now subsides. I was very lucky as I only had a small blood clot in my lung, but it has still been a life altering experience. I would NEVER recommend yaz or yasmin to anyone and actually have an appointment with my OBGY today to deal with these complications.
I have been suffering now for a month from shortness of breath, chest pain and some weakness in my legs. I've had CT w/contrast of my chest, abdomen and pelvis which were all normal. I've also had heart testing done - again normal. However, I'm concerned that I still might have some small pulmonary embolisms caused by Yasmin? I took the BC pill for 2-3 yrs. but haven't had it since approximatley 2006. Did anyone else have similar symptoms to mind and would it even be possible for me to get a pumonary embolism from Yasmin 3 yrs. after stopping the BC pill? Until 8/19 when this started I was a healthy 48 yr. old woman. I'm literally unable to do anything but wait for the next dr. appt. for the past month because I'm too weak and short of breath. Please help! Thank you!
