I had mirena put in 9 months ago after I had my baby. I began bleeding and cramping immediately and it never stopped. I had no energy and breakouts on my back and face. I couldn't take it anymore so I had it removed yesterday. I'm trying the nuvaring, well see. I'm still bleeding and cramping and had some numbness all over last night. I'm sick of this why can't they invent a bc that doesn't have so many crazy side effects.

I am so glad to read all of these postings and know that I am not crazy. I had the Mirena IUD inserted in February, 2008. I was so happy with it at first, but in May I really started noticing bizarre side effects. I was experiencing bloating, anxiety, numbness and tingling in arms and legs and my hair was falling out. I felt like I was walking around in a fog. No focus at all. My work suffered and I was very short with my husband and child. I was pretty miserable ( I have never been an anxious person - very laid back). I had blood work done which was normal and had a brain MRI, as my doctor wanted to rule out MS because of the numbness and tingling. After reading postings here and elsewhere, I had the IUD removed last week. I felt much more clear headed in 24 hours. The anxiety is starting to go away. The numbness and tingling is better, but is still there. Can anyone who has had that symptom tell me how long after removal it went away?
