I have had EXTREME hair loss and I did not know what from. I never thought it was my advair. I checked all of my other medications and only one other one said there was a possibility of hair loss (PREVACID) so I went off of that but my hair was still falling out. I have been so desperate that I scheduled and appointment to see a dermatologist tomorrow. Today I happened to google "advair/hair loss" and I cannot believe all of the articles that came up with people expressing the correlation. I have been so depressed from this hair loss. I had the thickest, shiniest hair and now I barely have a pony tail. I wear hats all of the time because I am embarrassed. It has been totally devastating. What I need to know is which other asthma medication will NOT cause hair loss so I can switch? Too bad I just dropped $100 on a 3-month supply of Advair and now cannot use it. Also, those of you who went off the Advair, how long did it take for you to experience hair growth or it not falling out?

I have not had hair loss. However, I have suddenly developed vision problems...double vision...and wonder if anyone else has had such a side effect.
I'm cutting down on the Advair to see if I can pinpoint that particular side effect.
In the meantime I'm going on another search to find information.

I developed a dry hacking cough several months ago and believed it was caused by an ace inhibitor I was taking. I stopped that medication, but the cough remained. It has now been 4 - 5 months and I'm still coughing, sometimes heavily. I keep cough drops with me at all times and must use them to get me through the night.
I saw my doctor 2 weeks ago and she ordered a chest x-ray to see if there was something else going on. The x-ray was normal and my lungs are clear. There's no explanation for the cough. She gave me an Advair discus to try and I've been using it, but so far don't see much improvement. I know it may take more time, but after reading all these messages, I don't think I want to continue.
Over three years ago, I was taking a totally different type medication which caused massive hair loss. I had long, thick healthy hair until I took that medication. My doctor didn't believe it was the cause of the hair loss, but I had done research online and found a site like this and found many people with the same side effect. I immediately stopped the medication. My experience with hair loss was that it continued for a few months after stopping the medication. My hair did grow back, but it looked awful with all the new growth which I'm still dealing with. My once healthy hair looked like straw and lost all its shine. After all this time, it is looking more normal. I think that with most medicine induced hair loss, the hair will grow back in time. All you can do is be patient.
Since the hair loss problem, I have been very careful to check side effects of new medications, but for some reason, I hadn't checked Advair until now. I don't know if it's okay to just stop taking it now (using it twice a day) or if I should go to once a day for the 3 treatments I have left. I will not continue past that. Thanks to all of you for sharing your stories. I learned a lot and hope my hair loss story will help someone else.
