I had my Mirena removed three days ago and I already feel like if my life is back. I had Mirena since January of 2006 and I had been feeling like another woman for the last six months...The horrible side affects included: Lower back pain, fatigue, depression, cloudiness, slurred speech, rapid heart rate, thinning hair, high blood pressure and the list goes on.....I can't thank one of my co-workers enough for opening up my eyes to take this thing out of me....Of course the doctor told me that the Mirena had nothing to do with the way I was feeling, but I decided to have it removed anyways. He sent me to do some bloodwork, so I did this morning...He's blaming the way I felt on my thyroid....I'll keep you posted....No matter what.... I am glad the Mirena is out!!!

You give me Hope!! I had twins two years ago this coming weekend. I had the Mirena put in around 3 mos after that. I chalked up my moodiness and sadness to PPD for a long time. Then I just didn't know what to think. Well, I'm at the point that I am just the moodiest person I know. I am also so depressed, so sad. I can't stand myself. My poor husband. So, I called my OB today and I have an apt tomorrow to have it removed because I think/hope this is my problem. I also have for side effects:
Weight Gain, Fatigue, No sex drive, Headaches, Nausea, DEPRESSION, mood swings.....there are probably more I am missing, I have been having bleeding for over a month now and right now it's so bad that the cramps are terrible and I'm clotting......
I really hope getting this stupid thing out will give me my life back!!!! Thanks for your post!!!

One more thing - I do have Hypothyroidism and those side effects you are having can be a thyroid issue too. If it is that, they will put you on medicine and in time, it will all be better!! I had all of the things you are talking about when my thyroid was out of whack 6 years ago. Mine is perfect now, in fact I just had the testing done. So, good luck with your tests and if some of your symptoms are from thyroid, they will go away - I promise!!!! I've done so much research on the Mirena today and boy oh boy do I feel better. There are SOOO many women who are depressed as a side effect. It helps to know I'm not losing my mind!!!

I have had the Mirena since end of Feb 08 and I feel like I am four months pregnant, my boobs feel like rocks on my chest. I am hormonally unstable.I have never taken anything hormonal in my life. I def not a good candidate for this. I have been contemplating on whether to hold off for a couple of months and see if the symptoms subsided, but after reading all the posts about Mirena-I made an appt today to get this thing out of me asap-Wednesday is the day-I am nervous about the pain but nothing can be as bad as it was being inserted. I am glad you feel better keep us posted on the next few weeks. Good luck...

I think it is good that you are getting yours out early, kimmor. I wish I had done it months ago. The symptoms get progressively worse, especially the hormones/moods/depression. I have NEVER had any problems w/ depression before this stupid Mirena and it is awful. I just wish I'd done research months ago so it hadn't gotten so bad. I can't believe all the things I've read today that validate my suspicions that the Mirena is what is wreaking havoc w/ me. I wish I had done what you were doing and got it out early so my symptoms hadn't progressed to where they are now, which is close to unbearable. I can't wait to go tomorrow to get it removed. I just hope this stuff goes away quickly!!! Good luck to you.
