I have been using Nuvaring for about 5 years now and I'm surprise...

I have been using Nuvaring for about 5 years now and I'm surprised to see all these posts about people being very unhappy with the method. I have nothing but positive things to say about the ring, except that it's an annoyance to have to take it out during intercourse (not due to the ring itself, but I think b/c of the size of my bf). Of course, as long as it's back inside in <3 hrs, it retains its effectiveness. I have been a headache sufferer since 4th grade, so the ring hasn't made them better or worse. My sex drive is the same (on a side note, I think it increases vaginal lubrication - a plus during sex), my emotional stability is the same, and I've lost weight in the last year (but that's due to some serious diet & fitness changes). For me, the BEST things about the ring are 1) not having to think /worry about my fertility on a daily basis, which means that there's less chance of taking it wrong thereby preserving its effectiveness; and 2) that I don't see it (no pills/patches laying around). I think it's really super important to remember that each of our bodies are different (the amazing wonderment of being a woman!) so what works for me might not work for someone else. So, I urge any girl/woman who comes across this site to visit your doctor and have them help you decide what the best method is for you. You can always try the ring and if you don't like it, change to something else. But I also think it's not fair to blame every crying spell or pounds gained on the method. Take a good look at your mental/emotional health, physical health, stress levels, stressful events, medicines you are taking...these can all effect our bodies just the same as any hormonal method!!!
