I am very happy that the cholesterol is going down. Singulair was the source of your son's INFLAMMATION.
I wish that some of the doctors would biopsy these tonsil-sinus-adenoid infections and ask the labs for culture and identification of the pathogen. The medical community really needs to start sharing information about the source of problems rather than just prescribing a pill and sending the patient on his way. In Ireland, they are practically OCD about viruses. They really like to identify viruses and share what is going around at the time. They even issue reports.
I was just using Ireland and viruses as an example of sharing information. Then, I looked at it and thought maybe somebody would think that I am implying a viral cause for the tonsils. I wouldn't have any way of knowing that so I am not making that connection. I would, however, love to know what organism is causing the tonsil infection.
I have to make one more comment here. If the source of your son's tonsil infection is Epstein Barr, a virus, then I am not surprised that the physical signs of the presence of Epstein Barr would show up after discontinuing Singulair. Singulair suppresses the very same immune response that would happen in response to viruses, among other pathogens. So Singulair could have allowed a viral infection to become more severe that it would have if the immune system was not suppressed.
But, then again, I don't know what the source of the infection is.+
His surgery is tomorrow, I am going to request the Dr to biospsy the tonsil to determine type of infection. Especially since he is becoming immune to the antibiotics.. Thanks for the thought!
