I'm very curious to read all these side effects! I have some strange symptoms going on and it only occurred to me after weeks of them that they may be caused by the Mirena IUD. Apart from constant annoying spotting and a bit of a dull ache in the pelvis now and then, I thought I had no other symptoms but I can see that my fuzziness in the head, low grade anxiety and stress that I've been feeling lately may be related. I've also been ravenous and am putting on weight but can't seem to stop eating junk. My energy levels are low and I have body aches and fatigue and find it hard to work out. But has anyone had achy joints in the hands and feet? .....tight tendons in the ankles & archilles and sore bones in the feet.......a feeling like swelling/tightness in the joints in the hands? I thought I was getting arthritis but maybe it's related to the IUD. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks

I have only had my mirena in for 3 wks - but I am occasionally experiencing pretty severe joint pain - knees, elbows, ankles and wrists - especially. Also I'm having indigestion and bloating almost daily. Good Luck! I have yet to decide if I am keeping Mirena or not?!?!?

Bayer, the manufacturer, talks about this side effect in their pamphlet for the Canadian market: skeletomuscular pain. 0.3 percent of women reported them after three months, and 1.0 percent after 5 years.......

Yes, I have all kinds of negative side effects since I had the mirena inserted in me for 16 months now. I kept ignoring them all because as I went to get a checkup with my ob/gyn and told her of my weight gain, she just said I ate too much. My doctor is so wrong becaue I even ate less and still do my regular exercises and I 'm a health fanatic too, watch what I consumed and kept my weight under 120 forever and after three months I've gained 10 pounds and no a totaled fo 20 pounds, wow! That's scary!

Well, at 15 months with mirena, I started feeling very nausea that I vomitted for 4 hours and then hell breaks loose! I never stopped feeling nausea, I started getting swollen ankles, painful, very tight on the tendons, joints, and archilles too as I walked up the stairs. Not just that, I became very exhausted, drained, stressed, acne everywhere, and so I went to my primary doctor who had no idea what's been going on with me, she got my blood results back and told me I had Thyroid problem! This shocked me because I've never had any health issues before in my life so I inquire online about Thyroid and it lead me to "Mirena" and lord and behold, I ran into all these testimonies of all the women who suffered from Mirena. Boy, I'm glad I know now because in 12 days, I have an appointment to remove this stupid, Foreign object out of me forever! Please stay away from this MIRENA!!!!
