OK FOLKS -HERE'S A GOOD ONE FOR YA- Just over a year ago I was on a heart transplant list. Today my heart function is normal and I am off ALL HEART MEDS. Even after finding out my heart function level was normal I was still living a nightmare for some unexplained reason. After MONTHS of tests and everyone telling me I was nuts a neurologist finally found out I was having seizure activity. Funny how my "seizure activity" feels EXACTLY how I felt when they increased my beta blocker dosage. I'm telling all of you.. This beta blocker helps some but they are burying their mistakes. I now know all of my ER trips, only to have them laugh and have them send me back home, were do to seizures caused by beta blockers while I had heart failure. I'm lucky to be alive.... and now that my heart function is good I have to fight this seizure BS. *REMEMBER THIS - Only YOU know what your body is telling you.. LISTEN TO IT! But do be careful.. You can't just stop taking a beta blocker.. Good luck all cuz we sure need it!

Can you describe the feelings and effects of the "seizure activity"?

I hear you can't just stop taking a beta blocker , but that is exactly what my doctor had me do. I was on 100mg Toprol xl and stopped cold turkey and went on 20mg Benicar , this was two weeks ago and I am hoping my numb and cold sensitive hands improve.

Some people just stop without ANY other remedy. This is dangerous even on a healthy heart. Benicar works by blocking angiotensin-II receptors in the blood vessels (arteries and veins)... This means it keeps your veins open.. Toprol is different because it deals with blocking norepinephrine (a form of adrenaline) slowing your heart rate - For your doctor to make a switch like this makes me wonder if you truely have a serious heart issue. What are you seeing the doctor for? If for high blood pressure how high and what is heart rate? If you don't know these things you should or you'll end up down this crazy road of doctors and pill popping when it's truely hurting people more than you can even imagine. I'm not a doctor but man if I listened to them I would have someone else's heart in my chest right now.. AND a pace maker... but instead it's all me and ALL NORMAL.. so who you gonna listen to? .. just at least listen to...
