Please report these effects to the FDC&FDA so they can be looked at w/ other complaints in case something needs to be done.
See your doctor - the rash may be an allergic reaction to either the coumadin or the dye.
Unstable INR's can be part of the game - mine have been unstable for 4 years. Have they told you about managing your vitamin K intake (brocolli, spinach, cauliflower, green vegetables) because if this is not consistent, it can impact your INR.
There are also alot of drugs that interact with coumadin and therefor your INR - basic NSAID's like asperin, advil, but a number of anti biotics as well. Also alcohol.
I am sure that they probably warned you about all of these, but thought I would mention them just in case.
The hair loss, headaches, loss of libido can be a result of the coumadin, - I have had these effects and more for over 4 years, but they can also be a result of stress - It can be pretty stressfull to almost die. You might want to get some counselling, but don't give up on your doctor. Some doctors don't recognize that there could be side effects from warfarin, but there are too many people like us that have reactions so it can't be ruled out.
Don't give up. If you are reacting to the coumadin, you might want to suggest that you stay on the lovenox for the six months of therapy.
Good Luck, and you can email me if you have any questions,
Fiona
It's not unusual to experience the fluctuations of your INR. I, too, am taking Coumadin (Warfarin) and it jst takes some getting used to. It is important to eat the foods rich in vitamin K as directed. If you tell the Dr. that you eat Vit K rich foods 2 times a week, you have to do as u have stated. They rely heavily on what u tell them. If you miss any doses, be honest and tell them, so they can adjust your dose accordingly.
I was diagnosed with DVT in 2003, had a second clot in 2004, barely 8 months after the first time, and again in 2005 with DVT and PE and I was only 30 at the time. So I know how difficult this can be, just hang in there, it does get easier. The trips to the doctor however frequset are annoying I know but it's just something you have to do until your INR is stable. Good Luck to You.

I went to the doctors about the rash. It has nothing to do with the Coumadin... I have shingles. I have never heard of anyone under 65 getting shingles, but that's just my luck.
hey I know how you feel. I just had a baby emergency C section and got several pulmonary embolism. I was given lovenox at the hospital and put om coumadin , its been a month. I cant lose weight. After reading online all the crazy side effects i got worry. today I told my doctor that i dont want to do the coumadin and now im taking Lovenox shots for next six months. I rather stick myself with a needle then to loose my hair gain weight and have all those other crazy side effects. ask your doctor , remember they work for you. if not get a second opinion. good luck
I went through something similiar just this past March. I was put on Coumadin after i had three major clots. About a month ago I started feeling really awful, I had tingling and numbness, headaches and stroke like symptoms. I was finaly taken off of the Coumadin and now take two shots of Lovenox a day. The main point to my story is my doctors kept telling me that these were not symptoms from the coumadin, but it turns out they were the rare. Make sure you tell your physcian and insist they do something. You know your body better than they do.
I'm 48 and had a PE almost 5 months ago - doctors also felt it was due to the Yasmine birth control (I'd been on for 6 years) and immediately took me off and prescribed the coumadin / Warfarin for 6 months. Maybe my age was a contributing factor with the Yasmine - who knows. I'm just hoping I can go off the stuff after my 6 months is up. I had just started really noticing the hair loss when someone suggested it might be the medication and, lo and behold - after reading this site and everyone's stories, I now know the cause - along with acne worse than when I was in high school (thought that might be due to no longer being on birth control) and the gas that always seems to come in the evening. My husband had just asked me this morning 'have you talked to the doctor about why you can't lose the weight?' - now, again, I know from everyone elses descriptions. Cutting calories down to 1200 per day and doing 1000 calories of exercise on an elliptical regularly and NO change - I can't wait to get off this stuff - hopefully!
