I'm a 52 year old female and have been taking Zocor for about a year. During the past few months, I've noticed increased muscle pains in my upper legs. It's to the point that I actually hurt when walking, even for short distances. I have also gained about 15 pounds in the past year. It could just be "middle age spread" but I can't help but wonder if this drug is the cause of it. I've also had some visual disturbances in the past month or two, like something that just won't clear out of my eye.....like a film across my eye. Anyone else with similar symptoms? I go back for a physical in a few weeks and am going to ask my MD about another medication. I have genetically elevated cholesterol and low cholesterol diet has not helped previously.

I have developed a little bubble like thing in my eye that seems to have fluid in it and the Dr and my Opthomogist can't find out what it is. Could it be related to Zocor?? Is that what yours is like. It is driving me nuts.

I did a search about vision changes with Zocor 7 years ago and didn't come up with much. I took Zocor at that time for a "probable problem" with fat depositing in my arteries because of a CT scan showing fatty liver. I stopped the Zocor after 2 weeks because of blurring vision which I felt was related to this new medication. I've never had any vision problems. In fact, people were always amazed with my excellent vision. Went to the Opthamologist and found out that I had a cataract! And I was 40 years old at the time. Family history of cataract in elderly but not young. No other significant history for cause of cataract. I now list Zocor as an allergy at the suggestion of my Dr. who prescribed it. My eye Dr. blew me off and said that Zocor could not have caused this. I no longer go to that Dr. And I am a Registered Nurse. After searching today, I'm seeing so many more side effects of all kinds related to Zocor. I anticipated this and I hope people just stop the drug if they feel something isn't right or is a new symptom.

ALL Statins are dangerous drugs and can cause MANY side effects. The drs. and the drug co's are doing a SCAM on the anti-cholesterol drugs . . .it is all about big $$ business, while many people suffer. In reality, your mind/body NEEDS cholesterol to function properly. . . .. DON'T LET YOUR DR. TO CON YOU.. . . .I know, I am a victim of LIpitor and I learned the hard way.
