I took Lisinopril for approx 6 years before realising (mostly thanks to this site) that many or most of the complaints I had were probably side-effects of this medication. It has been 5 months now and most of the side-effects are either much reduced or gone, but some are still there in reduced form. My guess is it depends how long one has been on the Lisinopril, and that the longer that is, the longer it will take to get back to normal (if one ever does), but I have no scientific evidence on which to base that assertion.
I was on Lisinopril for several months after having a stroke in January. My side effects were not immediate, but eventually the cough and diarrhea took over. My doctor switched me to Diovan, which I began right away. I feel much better. The only side effect is constipation...but that's much easier to remedy than the horrendous diarrhea.
This registry is a place to share positive or negative side effects of using Lisinopril. If you directly experienced a side effect while using Lisinopril, then we encourage you to enter it here. Please note that entries here are the experiences of individual users, and in no way means that you or anyone else will experience the same side effect, since the same medication affects people in different ways. Please always contact your physician.
