Don't be so quick to congratulate the FDA. Ralph Nader's group Public Citizen has been asking for a black box warning since 1996 and has even sued them in the past, only to have the FDA not bother to respond to the suit. The FDA is staffed by Bush loyalists, pharmaceutical industry insiders and former lobbyists. Fortunately, the public pressure on this apparently was too strong for them to continue to ignore, but they should be publicly flogged for waiting so long and allowing tens of thousands of people to be injured.
Whatever the ultimate reason was, I too just heard the announcement on our local news and thanked God for the news. It's a start and it is long overdue. Too many of us have suffered the consequences. Now if the pressure remains maybe we can get this poison banned before many more are injured.
