I have been on Lexapro for a few years now but just until recently have I experienced these side effects that I thought was something serious. But after reading all these comments I feel reassured that its caused from the Lexapro.Head rushes that make me dizzy, and making me sick to my stomach(causing major anxiety) . Another term I have read it head zaps, also true. Hot flashes one time while at work and Im only 30 years old. Major hunger all the time. I rally think my coworkers think Im crazy but not knowing what is making you feel crazy will cause you to panic. My husband has always told me that antidepressants were bad but haven't really notices until now. Im going to try and wein myself off of Lexapro and replace it with exercise. Has anyone else tried to do this?

I have been on lexapro for 5 yrs for panic attacks and have never really had a problem with any side effects. A couple of days ago I had another panic attack and I have been so dizzy and started worrying myself to death over it. I do think these meds eventually lose their effect on us and drs will have you change antidepressants. Your lexapro may not be working anymore or your dizziness may be anxiety related. I definately would speak to a Dr. (psychiatrist) who knows how to properly wean you off. I googled "decreasing or weaning off lexapro" and there were some strange and crazy side effects that people went thru weaning off it, so make sure you are advised by someone who really knows. I know exercise helps anxiety and a no caffeine diet. As for my fiance, he is not an antidressant fan either, but I tell him I really need it. Believe me I have been off of antidepressants before but I have always seemed to eventually had to get back on (HATE IT, but I have to just accept it for my own sanity)...Good Luck!

Be careful coming off of Lex. I came off it in February and had bad withdrawal for a long time. I just recently realized that I can't live a normal life without some sort of antidepressant and decided to try something new. The doctor has put me on Wellbutrin SR. OMG I MISS LEXAPRO. I may switch back if I can get approval.
