Spontaneous tendon rupture is a major side effect of this drug. Ususally it happens to older patients who are more at risk. The kicker is that the drug can stay in your system up to a year after taking it. So, you're walking along and bam! you fall down, your tendon ruptured out of the blue. Now you need surgery, lots of pain meds, physical therapy and no guarantees that it will mend properly. Be ulta careful if you have to take this medicine. Only take it if the alternative is death.
